They may not like some of the things you do, but they always love you. That's the thing about families, they are hard to drive off. Your story ripped my heart out. I agree with John, in the comments. You wrote and excellent article, so writing a book should also be do-able. You or one of the others in your Liberty Vets Assoc. should start on it soon so that you can get as many live interviews with survivors as possible and commit their stories to history. McCain's father. This is something that is just not discussed. Yet this incident speaks volumes about US relations with Israel and LBJ's apparent blind allegiance to them. There was a recent article in the Jerusalem Post, "A Friend In Deed" by Lenny Ben-David (Google it) regarding Johnson's long affection for Jewish people. His attempts to save many of them from the hands of Hitler, at a time when the US and most other western countries were denying them immigration privileges, is commendable. However, it is obvious that things got out of hand somewhere along the line and he placed the well-being of Israel ahead of that of US servicemen.
