My prediction for November no third party get more than 3.0% of the vote. And it does not matter which branch of the war party wins (dem or repub).

"And herein lies the problem. Rather than Nader and McKinney join forces the two of them splits the slim numbers on the left while Obama entices."

Right on, Deadbeat. I have been making this point to people as well. This is the stupidity of the American progressive Left and it is frustrating to say the very least. Split scarce resources, real smart. One of them should have backed out and supported the other. I would have liked to have seen Nader, whom I supported in 2000 and 2004, not run and speak across the country for McKinney.

But what is done is done. I'll give them both money, but I'm voting and will GOTV for McKinney as there is a threshold to meet (5%) for some electoral success; Nader will spend most of his time getting ballot access.

I am no longer a Green, I'm an Independent, but I would like to see a strong third party in my lifetime. And if McKinney is successful on even a small scale, maybe her movement will bring in visionaries whose, well, vision prevails and override the timid Party bureaucrats and GP bloggers.

I'd be surprised if Nader garners 5% of the vote this year. We'll see but I've seen too many folks who should be voting for Nader and folks who voted for Nader in 2004 considering Obama this time around AIPAC warts and all.

There needs to be a serious re-engagement of the anti-war movement was left to twist in the wind since 2004 as the "left" abandoned it for the ABB mantra.

Vote McKinney. If the Greens get 5%, they will maintain most of their ballot lines and gain others around the country. Their viability as a party will increase tremendously.

This article neglects to mention the Moore-Alexander ticket of the
Socialist Party USA. The SP has a strongly anti-war and anti-militarism platform (including an immediate 50% cut to the military budget.

Check out:

if nader gets 5% of the votes it would have been an enormous success for working class.
will US expansion cease/abate because of this? it'l have some effect. and more people might vote for nader. thank u
