The message I got from Carlin is: We may already have destroyed the future for our (and many other innocent) species; but never, ever let them get your day, too.

Socrates was a snob , and his mate Plato a reptile down there with rupert "the dirty digger's boy " murdoch . Carlin had real panache , a glorious sense of life and will be remembered like Lenny as a first , a great funny man

Doesn't everyone have, or had, a friend, an acquaintance like George? It seems I always have known at least one person who is witty, funny, insightful and profanely profound.
So much to laugh and bitch about, so little time.

Yeah, George Carlin went far beyond being a comedian. For me, he was more like a philosopher who made me laugh. His statements of the obvious regarding our dead-end species were like a shock-therapy remedy for the propaganda and false-dream-mongering of the "news" media, including the PBS-NPR brainwashing duo. It was so shockingly outrageous to hear his accurate assessments of us right out in the open, on TV -- well at least cable TV -- that I couldn't help but laugh, even though the truth he portrayed was anything but funny. Too bad his efforts made little difference in the overall picture of our condition, other than to make people like me feel a little less isolated from our sick society. If there was such a thing as life after death, he would deserve a comfortable place there.
