our developing world ( odw) has been leading reality tours to South Africa focussed on people and development since 1991 ( Next one is July 2009) and were there in 1976, '86, and '90. The photo and description of no electricity or water in the unrecognized towns is so reminiscent of apartheid South Africa where Soweto as one example, had towers looking down on it but providing no electricity which was destined for white Johannesburg. The little electricity available from another source was more expensive than what whites paid for that coming from Soweto towers. Same with water. Same with freedom to travel, hold a job, etc, etc. Apartheid Palestine is an accurate term.
At the WILPF International Congress in Bolivia last July a Palestinean Israeli explained how it was unlawful for them to own land, even what had been in the family for generations.
Thanks for the fine article and graphics, Sharat.
