That Walmart picked Tuesday, April Fools Day to announce that it "will not seek to collect money the Shanks won in an injury lawsuit against a trucking company accident for the accident" and that "Mrs. Shank's extraordinary situation had made the company re-examine its stance," is odd, but considering Walmart initiated the case to begin with is even odder. Update.

It's been my experience that many people claiming to support individual liberties and human rights make an exemption for themselves and their own "little blessings" if they can save a few cents by joining their Republican counterparts at the sweatshop trough. We seem not so much to want to end other people's exploitation as to make sure that we and our offspring are on the porch, not in the field. WalMart, Hummers, George Bush and our occupation of Iraq are all more accurate reflections of America's character than the fairy tales taught in schools as "history." How many of you dissidents, libertarians and other freedom-lovers are supporting WalMart?
