Excellent piece, Carlos. You’re spot on: the Bybee/Yoo memos weren’t written as “academic exercises.” They were part and parcel of the same wretched “intellectual” system responsible for “fixing the intelligence around the policy,” that served as justification for the criminal enterprise known as “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Wars of aggression are acts of such unbelievable criminality that the Nazis at Nuremberg found a noose fitted around their necks. Yoo, as a “little Eichmann,” an enabler, needs to be legally brought to ground.

First, Yoo tortured logic and language. It is astonishing that in this day and age, a little White House ass-kisser like Yoo would be seriously discussing whether the President has the authority to ‘poke someone’s eyes out’ (affirmative) or to ‘crush the testicles of a child in front of his parents’ (affirmative). No wonder the USA is in such a bloody mess! People like Yoo can always be found to do the dirty work of someone like Bush, or Hitler. But they should pay.
