Once again, a third of Eisenhower's diagnostic term, "the military-industrial-congressional complex," is omitted (as when Ike spoke the words wishing to show courtesy at the time of succession, to the next president, --whom at the time everyone would have recognized as one of those most implicated by that third adjective, Kennedy having with Scoop Jackson perpetrated the "missile gap" hoax, a gargantuan, still continuing disaster).

To verify the text of Eisenhower's speech, see '90s New York Review of Books article by then Washington d. of C.-based reporter Lars-Erik Nelsen.

The chronic elision from this ever-repeated term, of a third of the understanding it so tellingly conveys, is a disastrous lacuna in our collective consciousness.
