"When can we have a country-wide massive general strike?"

Exactly. Or in other words, when will we stop talking and start doing?

November 6, 2007, spread the word:

http://www.harpers.org/archive/2007/10/0081720

Or Google "November 6 General Strike".

To Cindy Sheehan! I would certainly "second" Mike McNiven's comment for a new political party!

"Ms. Sheehan, please start organizing to found a People’s Party while campaigning for your congressional seat! " (I say this is a 10+ years registered Green Party, which has internal problems and divisions, that have made it ineffective.)

We need to unite the many millions of people, often organized now into "single-issue" groups (anti-war, environmental, health care, education, etc.),
into an umbrella organization. These activists usually become very knowledgeable, and would make excellent candidates for office at every level of government.

Prioritize the national agenda: to end the wars, shutdown the 700+ military bases,
cut the military budget by 50 percent, re-instate tax cuts for the wealthy, end privatization of the federal government. These are essentials to restore economic health to this country before we end up with a recession or depression! Dennis Kucinich's idea for a Department of Peace should be implemented.

The military-industrial complex, the energy companies (oil, nuclear) have taken over the government, they are waging these wars for profit, oil, and power.
(The Project for the New American Century).

We need to put people to work in "living wage" jobs that are not shipped off to China. These jobs are to transform the economy to sustainable enery, start the long process of ending global warming (i.e.end pollution), rebuild cities with affordable housing, public transportation, etc.etc.

Promote free public education through college so educated young adults can tackle these many problems!! Scientists, doctors, civil engineers, energy engineers, health care workers, etc. etc.

We need to mobilize this country... and the planet... if we want to survive this century! We need a "Marshall Plan" to save this country and the planet!

Not at all. "pro-democracy" is another favorite code word like pluralism and decentralisation used by many liberals and various Left currents.
In the Ukraine under orange flags that was a movement more pro-west and imperialist. That is why Geroge Bush supported it. The Solidarity movement in Poland was anti-socialist and received help-covert and overt the help of US imperialism.
Hardly anti-fascist as you allege.

Best Wishes Cindy!

I voted straight Democrat for many years but quit and became an Indpendent two years ago.

Regarding Myanmar, the situation is more complicated than it appears - I'm pretty sure the US is sending in millions of dollars to monks and anyone else who will take it to create a coup against the current Government, similar to creating the Contras to fight the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. We get such censored coverage, how can we be sure those are really peaceful students and monks? I would guess there are armed provocateurs there, that we don't hear about. It's such a common tactic that the US has used successfully so many time to overthrow Governments that don't follow their commands, solet's not come to any hasty conclusions.

Sure it's a dictatorship but no one is starving there or are having the land they live on being stolen and given to multinational enterprises as in neighboring democratic India. I've met 2 immigrants from Burma and they are happy with the current Government. Opium production is greatly reduced whereas Afghanistan has rapidly become the major heroin source following 'liberation' from the Taliban.

See "International narcotics agenda behind Myanmar instability"
http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_2473.shtml

Also if a US puppet government takes over in Burma that could be deadly for neighbors China and India. Without a powerful China and Russia all the brave countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Iran who are struggling for the freedom to run their contries for the benefit of their own people will be crushed.

India which already facing constant attacks and terrorist bombings from the US puppet, Pakistan on it's western border will have another one in the East and this will strengthen the pro-US forces in India.

India is in political turmoil right now since the pro-West Manmohan/Sonia group tried to sneak in a huge nuclear energy deal with the US without a vote in Parliament and finally the Left forces have united and are resisting this specific move and more generally the move towards India becoming pro-US politically (e.g.vote against Iran) and economically (e.g. allow Walmart to enter India, privatise profitable state enterprises)

Good Luck Cindy, my prayers go with you!

There is a two party-one ideology-human unfriendly system in the US!
The D party's motto is: middle class, law&order and bible. This is what the fascists of the 20's and 30's of the last century "old Europe" were saying too! In addition to the half of the US population, the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kurdistan, Yugoslavia, Somalia, Sudan, Congo, Mexico, Guatemala, ElSalvador, Nicaragua, Thailand, Philippines, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Korea, Haiti, ...have been/are the victims of the D&R parties! Ms. Sheehan, please start organizing to found a People's Party while campaigning for your congressional seat! The suffering is not limited to Afghanistan, Iraq and Miyanmar, this Planet is suffering! Thank you and Good Luck!

My prayers go out to Cindy who is so vocal and courageous.

I agree with Eric Patton , that the Mainstream Media-- or the Establishment Media as I prefer to call it, should be judged for its involvent in bringing our country to where it is today.

Cindy, when you first suggested that you would run against Pelosi, I thought that you wasting your precious energy.

I was a fool. We won't have any choice unless you do.

There isn't anybody close to you when it comes to calling the bastards out.

I would add direct action against corporate media. And I would particularly second the nationwide general strike idea.
