<description>Ditto Australia. Our property market is as stuffed as yours. The way it began was really strange- We noticed allot of houses on the edges of our cities going into forclosure, this is unusual, it is typically the inner city units that cop it first. On careful inspection we found that most of these sales were caused by defaults on no-doc loans. The problem has now spread to investment properties and units.

Everyone is walking around waiting for the other shoe to drop. We know that a catastrophic recession is around the corner but life is going on as usual. It is a very weird vib. The only thing that may mitigate our recession and keep deflation at bay is the federal government's surplus. Howard has spent the last 11 years retiring debt. Our government can 'pump prime' when it gets bad.

An economic modeller I know has been told to simulate an external debt deflation depression environment for a hedge fund he works for. He has also said that his fund managers are buying commodities like crazy.
